What Is The Wavelength In Nano Meters?

Data encoded on DVD’s, Cd’s and Blu-rays discs are read by lasers.  Calculate the wavelength in nano meters and the energy in kilo joules of the following lasers.

1.)  CD laser,  v  =  3.85 x 10^14 s^-1

2.)  DVD laser, v  =  4.62 x 10^14 s^-1

3.)  Blu-ray laser,  =  7.41 x 10^14 s^-1

  1. lambda = c/v E = hv
    (3.00×10^8m/s)/(3.85×10^14s^-1) = 7.79×10^-7m = 779×10^-9m = 779nm
    (6.626×10^-34Js)(3.85×10^-14s^-1) = 2.55×10^-19J

    (3.00×10^8m/s)/(4.62×10^14s^-1) = 6.49×10^-7m = 649×10^-9m = 649nm
    (6.626×10^-34Js)(4.62×10^14s^-1) = 3.06×10^-19J

    (3.00×10^8m/s)/(7.41×10^14s^-1) = 4.05×10^-7m = 405×10^-9m = 405nm
    (6.626×10^-34Js)(7.41×10^14s^-1) = 4.91×10^-19J
