Oracle Buys Social Media Startup Involver

Oracle said today it acquired Involver, a San Francisco-based startup that has created a development platform for social media marketing campaigns. The company describes itself as a Facebook marketing developer and a technology provider for Facebook’s internal marketing team.

The company was founded in 2007 with backing from Bessemer Ventures and other investors. CEO Don Beck is a veteran of IBM, J.D. Edwards, Adobe and Postini, a cloud-based email and web security and archiving service that was sold to Google in 2007.

The co-founders of Involver are Rahim Fazal, chief strategist, and Noah Horton, CTO. The terms of the Involver deal, which is expected to close this summer, weren’t announced.
