Foxcomm—Apple’s main manufacturing provider—is about as official a source as we will get, though, so even analysts who tend to avoid Apple exuberance relaxed their guard.
“Steve Jobs certainly thought he had come up with something that could transform TVs as he transformed the music industry,” said Rob Enderle, principal analyst with the Enderle Group. “But … unlike music, which he liked, he hated TV and thought it contributed to a nation of stupid people. It is far harder to build something that meets the needs of an audience if you think that audience is stupid.”
Still, Enderle said, if Apple were to figure out how to get access to programing sources that were broad enough to displace cable or unique enough to capture an audience it could do something amazing here. Read More
